Sorry for the title, but I have to admit I am getting painfully tired of hearing the newscasters and weather people talk about the dangers of the heat and how scary it is. Do they really think we do not know how hot it is or that the relentless heat is dangerous? I am concerned for the bills that will surely follow this extended period of heat. I am thankful that none of this is a surprise to God and He will provide a way for us to survive this season. I say bring on fall!!! That is my favorite time of the year anyway.
How do you think we can make a positive impact on those around us during this heat wave (service op)? I have suggested opening our atrium as a cooling center. Maybe we could open our kitchen to serve light meals and give those in our community time to come in and cool off during the day and enjoy a meal with us. What do you think? We would need people to man the kitchen and host the people who come in to cool off. We would also need security. Think with me ladies so we can be a witness to those who are without air conditioning and need someone to care about them. Would you be willing to minister Jesus to those around you in this type of ministry if we could get approval?
I look forward to hearing from a couple of our students who participated in Mission Bethalto. We will meet for class on Wednesday evening so make your plans now to be in attendance to support the young ladies who will speaking to us. Remember, as older women we are instructed to teach the younger ones and encourage them on their path. I know you won't want to miss an opportunity to be a source of encouragement to them. "Older women likewise are to be reverent in behavior, not slanderers or slaves to much wine. They are to teach what is good, and so train the young women......" Titus 2:3&4
Stay safe and cool friends and I hope to see you on Wednesday at 6:00pm in Suite 107.
Are there a lot of people without AC? That would be great if we can meet some needs of people.
ReplyDeleteI don't want to get our bill either; we'll just cry on each others shoulders, ok! :)
I think it would be a wonderful opportunity to serve our community. Count me in for whatever needs done. See you Wednesday night
