Are You Weary?

These are some stressful days, it is about as hot and dry as I have ever seen it.  People are tired of being shut up in houses or offices where you hear the constant roar of the AC motor and can almost see the dollar signs floating in the air as you try to remain cool and calm.  I am thankful to God for air conditioning and I don't know what I would do if we lost power for some reason.  I know this weather has not come as a surprise to God and after all it is summer in the mid-west, but really this is ridiculous.  I received and paid the power bill for church today, let's just say that was not the most pleasant thing I have done in a while.  Thank you Lord for your provisions to pay it through the faithfulness of your people.

In trying to remain focused on eternal things I must not fix my eyes on external things.  It is so easy for me to get preoccupied with the how are You going to move God instead of I know You will move God.  I must always be brought back to the consistent care that God provides for us.  When you think about it, if we lived our lives prepared in the LORD we probably would have less stress in our lives.  That is a lesson that is hard for me to walk in every day.  I am just being honest friends, I don't have that one worked out completely yet.  How about you?

Philippians 4:6-7 says, "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.  And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."  Would you join with me in prayer and petition to ask God to bring the rain and cool the air?  There are many out there who are going to have a tough time surviving this streak of scorching weather.   Class is on for tomorrow night.  We are in Psalm 119.  See you tomorrow at 6pm in Suite 107.  May the grace of the LORD Jesus, be with you always.

  1. Thanks, Marilyn. I have been asking God what he would like for me to learn this summer - thinking about how many times I feel like I am in the desert spiritually as we are experiencing now with no rain and excessive heat. It has closed me up from my neighbors some, because as you say everyone is in with the AC.
Is there anyone we need to bless with power bills, etc.?
