We have heard from several of you that you were blessed and encouraged Wednesday evening in class. Please keep in mind that our group is all about Jesus! Anything good that happens is because he allowed it. Isn't God's word full of "Real Life"? Keep up the hard work of pursuing godliness.
J. Oswald Sanders said, "Spirituality is not easy to define, but its presence or absence can easily be discerned...It is the power to change the atmosphere by one's presence, the unconscious influence that makes Christ and spiritual things real to others."
~Is your life the "presence of Christ to others?
~Do you have a passionate desire to live a life that draws others to Jesus?
Our discussion lead into how we can make others feel welcomed in our church family. So, our assignments were:
1. THIS Sunday welcome/greet at least one visitor OR someone that you have not seen or spoken to in awhile. Be prepared to share your experience with the group.
2. Get with at least one other person from our class and your job is to do something special for our Wednesday night group. This means each table for dinner THIS coming Wednesday should have something on it from our group. This can be cards, candy, gift bags. BUT, make sure there is some sort of note telling them you are glad they are here and that they are loved!! If you don't have a "team" call me (Gail) or Marilyn.
You don't have to spend money on this! DO NOT sign your name(s)!!
If you normally do not come to eat and can, why not join us?
If you work and cannot get your things to church and put out on the tables before 5:00, please drop your things by the office with instructions and we will make sure that it is put out.
Let's be a blessing and make a positive difference in the life of others.
Have a great weekend.
I have a couple of additional ideas for Wednesday night too. Chrissy and I have talked briefly about greeting people as they come in - to create a welcoming atmosphere.
ReplyDeleteHow about "bussing" people's tables when they are done? We could also offer to put away people's dishes when they are done eating.
We can be the difference.
Love you all!
Dian Miller
PS. I got a new haircut today and I feel so cute!
Dian, this is a great idea!! Thanks for the ideas. So, are you and Chrissy going to be the "greeters" for this Wednesday? We could rotate that for a few weeks and see what a difference it makes. I would suggest that the greeters be inside the gym a little away from the doors.
ReplyDeleteI'm up for "busing" tables, too.
Can't wait to see your new haircut!
Thanks Gail for the new post. Dian, I like the idea of greeters as well. Chrissy will need to make sure her dad does not lose track of time so she can be there a little early:). A new haircut can make you feel so brand new. Gail has laid down the challenge for us to greet new people or someone we have not seen in a while. Happy hunting ladies. May the LORD God multiply our efforts.
