MASKS

I have been thinking about our class a lot since Wednesday. I encourage you to reflect upon the masks YOU tend to wear, and ask God to reveal why you feel the need to wear it. This is a hard "homework" assignment. It's very personal. The mask that I brought to class and had hanging is from French Guiana. They are worn during Carnival time which is currently going on at this time of year - from January through Easter. During Carnival time many people tend to wear masks to hide their true identity.  Women, especially, can be anyone they want to be, and do many things they typically would not do. There is a lot of sin involved in the wearing of masks.  That is a whole post all in itself! 


We, as heirs of Christ, do not have to wear masks! His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.  II Peter 1:3


Wearing masks can be exhausting, don't you think?! So, as you start pulling those masks out of your secret closet, I encourage you to look at your own heart and ask some tough questions (1) Why do I wear it? (2) How does it keep me from freedom in Christ, and (3) Am I willing to lay it at the cross?

As we go into the weekend, let's take the time to review our scripture(s) and be aware of how it is changing YOU. Several of you have shared with me how the particular verse you chose is changing your heart and helping you react godly to personal struggles in your life. Others have shared how your verse is encouraging you day by day. God's word is ALIVE, as Irene pointed out to us in small group time, which means we are to LIVE. God came to give us life and to give it more abundantly.

Oh, that men would give thanks to the Lord for His goodness, and for His wonderful works to the children of men! For He satisfies the longing soul, and fills the hungry soul with goodness.  Psam 107:8-9

I pray that those promises will bring fresh water to your soul, too. He IS good. He DOES satisfy our soul.
