Every lady brings something unique to the table of fellowship. Not one of us is exactly alike. I am glad that our God is a creative God and that he did not make robots! For one, I love to get my hair done from time to time. How boring would life be if we could never EVER get our hair cut, styled, colored (for some), and fixed by someone else!! Thank you Jesus for hair - and hair stylists! Add that to my list. :)
I think of all the different personalities in our group - Some outspoken and others reserved. Thankfully, or we'd all be talking at once and there would be no one listening. Ha.
Our backgrounds differ just as widely. Some of you were raised by loving parents and a Christian home. Yet, others of us grew up in more destructive and abusive homes.
Wealth. Poverty. Opportunities or lack there of. Adventures. Confinement. Laughter. Tears. Happiness. Sadness. Good relationships. Bad relationships. Strong marriages. Difficult marriages. Children. Miscarriages. Submission. Rebellion. GRACE. GRACE. GRACE.
As I read scripture and read about all the different men and women that God chose for us to know through His written word, I never stop marveling at the fact that God uses messed up people! If you ever feel like God cannot use you, please, just pick up your Bible and skim through it and try to find a perfect being other than Christ himself. What a relief. What Grace.
I have pondered Jer. 29:11 many times in my life.
"For I know the plans I have for you says the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
I have wrestled with this promise in the past. I have asked lots of questions of God, and I'm not always content with His chosen plan for me. Do you ever do that? It has been a fierce battle to find truth at times. God opened my eyes to the fact that I, sometimes, try to live SOMEONE ELSE'S LIFE.
God said he knows the plans for ME. I don't always like that plan. That is a miserable place to be. MY life, IN GOD'S PLAN, is PERFECT. And so is YOURS.
I am meant to glorify Him- in the difficulties of childhood, in my adulthood, marriage, parenting, as a woman of God. MY life is what HE chose for ME. I long to be many different things, as maybe you do, too. That in itself is not a bad thing. It can make me (you) a stronger and more balanced person to be USED FOR GOD. KEY. When I cannot have those things, and I sin as a result, I am no longer worshipping God; I am worshipping self and whatever it is I cannot have.
Dian reminds us simply that scripture teaches that God has a plan. She believes Jer. 29:11. What peace this offers. What joy this brings. What glory that radiates when we live like we believe Him!!
As we approach this most sacred observance as a Christian, take time to meditate on the truth that when Christ was on the cross, He knew exactly how His death would bring you life.
Trust Him. Do Good. Do Not Grow Weary. Dwell In The Land. Cultivate Faithfulness. Delight In The Lord. Rest In The Lord. Fret Not.

ReplyDeleteGail - I love reading your posts. You make everything seem so real and so easy even when it is hard. Pray for Missy as she is going through something right now and also pray for me as I attempt to guide her

God is the great redeemer,Cathy. Have you ever prayed scripture for your child? There have been many times that I have written my child's name over a particular scripture believing God's promise. A mother's heart is so intense with love. God knows the desire of your heart as we talked about in class last week. Yes, we as a class will continue to pray for Missy.
ReplyDeleteI appreciate it - sorry I wasn't there last night - think I'm coming down with a cold - wasn't feeling the best - Cathy
